Need Help 2nd storyline about Nathaniel Hawk

Hello people,
I don't know about you but I loved "Tales of a Sea Hawk" story and gameplay
I started to learn coding not too long ago and I was thinking about a 2nd storyline.
Do I need any sort of a permission since the original story line wasn't made by me.

The original story was part of the original game. We have modded the game "without permission" for over ten years.
Anyway, you don't need permission to continue work on even other modders' stuff; as long as it builds on what is already there, then why not?
