I was thinking and I think there is a way to deal with the non-solid player constructions as well as make it easier to place them on the map.
What if each city had a "building zone", an added (and more or less flat) section added within its walls that was divided into zones where buildings could be activated buy buying the plot from the governer and then going to the designated lot and giving the construction order within it. This way the "walls" could be already plotted in advance along with their corrisponding doors.
It would also be cool if a similiar system could be used with a small "blank" island added for players to find and exploit as a base entirely of their own making. Perhaps a large outter wall could be programed (and guard/gun towers) that could also be activated like a building but for the private settlement only at very high cost in time, money, and materials.
Also, maybe add a warehouse that could auto-collect from local buildings and have a holding capasity, perhaps with the ability to sell off a certain amount of goods at the player's direction.
Just some thoughts. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
