I dont think some of you on this thread have noticed a post on the "future of SD2" thead by alex from akella about what is going to be on what will be on this game which is now called "Age of Pirates". I will copy and paste the passage for you and then comment on it.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Main news are: the game is huge. Real map of Caribbean. Five nations: English, Spanish, French, Dutch and Pirates... Basically, Age of Pirates is a totally `non-linear` “pirate RPGâ€, with absolute freedom of gameplay, tons of randomly generated quests, powerful trading system, developing NPC’s, controlling, managing and upgrading towns and forts... New fencing system. Advanced ship upgrades (hulls, masts, guns etc.). Smuggling. And much more. (For example, player can even sell prisoners he captured to slavery). As a result, the game will be different every time you play it. Also, there will be several multiplayer modes.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
"the game is huge. Real map of Caribbean."
-Nothing new about having real map of Carribean in pirate pc games, will be interesting to see how detailed it is.
"Five nations: English, Spanish, French, Dutch and Pirates..."
- That should answere a few questions on this thread.
"Basically, Age of Pirates is a totally `non-linear` “pirate RPGâ€, "
- Well that answeres my question..... they plan on making it an RPG rather than a strategy game.
"with absolute freedom of gameplay, tons of randomly generated quests, powerful trading system, developing NPC’s, controlling, managing and upgrading towns and forts... New fencing system. Advanced ship upgrades (hulls, masts, guns etc.). Smuggling. And much more. (For example, player can even sell prisoners he captured to slavery)."
- I have a hard time understanding how an rpg will have so many strategy game features, as my idea of an rpg is more of an adventure game where you handle all campaigns personally for your own personal wealth.
"As a result, the game will be different every time you play it. Also, there will be several multiplayer modes."
- Again it will be interesting to see how you can do multiplayer in an rpg that is spread out through the expanse of the Carribean.
