Build 12 issues

G'day (it's 'ow we says it downunder!)

First off, POTC was a game I was watching with eagerness when Sea Dogs started breaking waves. I would frequent the "official" site almost religiously for any ne info on Sea Dogs2, and I desperately tried to find a copy of Sea Dogs but alas there were no distributors of the game in "The Land of the Long white Cloud" or "`Middle-Earth`" for the LOTR fans.

A few months ago I finally sourced a copy of POTC and what joy it is! I love the game, even with it's quirks - like sails blowing out on the wrong side of the boat etc <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

When I stumbled across the Build 12 info I salivated over my desk at the list of mods you guys had made - WOW all the things I had wanted and more.

Naturally I downloaded it and today tried running it - but to no avail. It doesn't load games (new or saved). The OPTIONS screen doesn't display text when you change the keys (so you don't know what it's doing - however, I did find that if you held your key down for a few seconds then it would accept it and update).

Any ideas on why I can't get it going? I'm running an HP P$ 2.4GHz (512MB) with a WinFast A310 video card (not sure of specs).

Should I include the report file?

Looking forward to playing the build.

Cheers

Have an ale! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" />

Couple of basics - did you install over a clean unmodded version of PotC?

Did you hit the "I" key to reinitialize so that you could continue to use your savegames?

Did you reset the keymaps to default before trying to remap them to your tastes?

I took a look at your graphics card specs, and it's built upon the Nvidia Geforce 5600 chipset. which should do just fine with the game, especially if you've got a lot of video RAM.

Posting the report file would be helpful. Try my suggestions above, if you have not already, and let us know what happens. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

thanks Catalina,

Yes, Build12 is the only mod I've tried to apply. the game itself only has two saved games on it(it's a very fresh install)

When I first tried to start up a new game (after installing build12) I got the loading screen and then it looked as though it was about to through me in the cabin but instead my screen went black (as though the loading splash screen works but the actual game screen doesn't).

I pressed a few keys but still nothing. I pressed 'i' a coupl of times and on the left hand side of my black screen the initialising text appeared and then slowly disappeared to leave me with the black screen again. I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out.

The only thing I had changed in the mod utility was Nathaniel's name.

Don't know about the key maps thing.

How do I get the report to you?

Cheers
The Congressman

What is EURO set to for you?
(It's in ProgramBuildSettings.h)

You can try opening programcontrolsinit_pc.c and comment out the two Quicksave lines (put // before each).
