This bug was reported by me before and I think
Hook had a go at this, but it still persists! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Sample of Dialog, it took a while to work out how to approach
the lady but it's not a game stopper!

WOW! That is REALLY weird! I never saw that. I thought that character skin was working fine! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Could you tell me how you encountered this pirate? Randomly at sea or in a pirate hunting mission?

Does anyone recognize which character model that is? I couldn't figure it out from looking at the files.

The female captains you get in pirate hunting missions were pretty thoroughly tested, unless someone added a new one. It's still possible that some combination could cause weirdness, but I thought I'd gotten them all fixed.

If someone's added female captains to other than pirate quest ships, keep in mind that only certain models work right.

It looks like 9CATa to me. Nothing was changed with female captains lately, so I don't see why it should suddenly not be working anymore while it did work in the past. Nobody added new female pirates. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> esher would be proud!

i know that the skin is called catalina the pirate in the tailor's shop.

It does look like 9CATa more than any others. I wonder if the female captain having armor would cause that problem.

I noticed that Pirate_KK made some changes to that code. I didn't try a full winmerge on the entire set of new files, so I don't know if the code to generate pirate captains is called elsewhere, but the fact that the name of the function has been changed indicates it is. If the captains are processed outside of this code somewhere, it's possible that the wrong animation files are getting used, or as I said above, the captain may have armor where she didn't have it before, causing some unknown problems.

I did report this way back during the Build 13 betas and at
that stage any female Pirate captured would cause that problem!
I used to kill them when encounterd, because it used to be a game stopper
at the time! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

The last code I submitted for the female pirate captains was October 17. I have no idea what calling the captain generation code outside a pirate quest will do. It looks like it should work, but if the captain is generated elsewhere, additional code may be run which could give wrong animations, for example, which seems to be the biggest problem that causes the effect you're seeing.

I know you tried before and the fact is people know about it how to work
around this! I will delete the pictures because I like to post another one.
my limit is close to 500 kb and I need the Space. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Pirate_KK only made it so that there will also be other nation enemies in pirate hunting quests. But other than that it should work as always. Perhaps Hook and Pirate_KK should both have a look at that code in the Build 14 Alpha? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

the armor you see is included in the skin. it isn't an equipped item, just part of the looks.

That makes more sense. But if you get a quest to sink a Spanish ship, for example, it should not have a female captain, and it *should* have a Spanish captain, not a pirate one. This whole chunk of code should be avoided, in that case.

Hook

The female characters only work for pirates? Could you please check the code to see what it actually does, because I don't really know... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The code was intended to give a variety of captains to quest pirate ships, including female ones. I tried to find a good selection of piratey-looking captains for this. The female captains were more difficult, as many of the female character models did not work right.

Now that the governors give quest ships other than pirate, things have changed. I don't know what the code is actually doing, but I don't think you would find many Spanish ships, for example, with female captains. If you're given a Spanish ship as a quest, it should have a Spanish captain, not a pirate (which is what my code would assign).

One reason I do pirate quests rather than going out to battle ships of other nations is that I may not want to anger the other nations. If I decline to sink that Spanish quest ship, because I occasionally do trade runs to a Spanish island, then I won't get any more quest ships from the governor.

I've downloaded the new versions, but haven't installed them, so I can't really comment on what is actually happening in the game.
