Recently, a pirate-platformer-adventure was released on Steam, geared mainly towards children as it's primarily a family game:
Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond on Steam
It's a Metroidvania, so exploration is amply rewarded, just like in other pirate games!
Don't expect a difficult game like Donkey Kong Country or the new Crash Bandicoot 4 though. If you simply are interested in the theming - let's be honest, do we have any pirate-platformers, except maybe Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3 with their PotC-worlds? - and want to enjoy a nice time with your family, then this game might be for you!
