Need Help Crash during encounters at sea

Hi all,
Two out of three encounters on the large world map (battlesea) cause me to crash, can anyone help me?

(I don't have a modded game, the game is blank)

Why is Speightstown Personal rather than British? Have you already been playing the game and conquered it for yourself?

Try deleting the file "options" which you should find in the top level of the game installation folder. If you changed anything in the "Options" menu such as controls or realism settings, you'll need to change them again. File "options" sometimes becomes corrupted, which can cause all sorts of weird problems.

Yes I did.

Try deleting the file "options" which you should find in the top level of the game installation folder. If you changed anything in the "Options" menu such as controls or realism settings, you'll need to change them again. File "options" sometimes becomes corrupted, which can cause all sorts of weird problems.
I have never touched the game's options.
But I still have an "options" file which is created in the main game folder after I launch the game. I delete it but nothing changes my problem...
Besides, this “options” file is created every time I launch the game and play for a while, I think that’s normal?

I tried again and after the crash at sea following an encounter, the data in the "system" file changed... I put it next.

Do you have folder "RESOURCE\Models\Ships\PinnaceMerchant2"? Your "compile.log" shows that you have the 12th January 2024 version, which means you've installed the update, and it was that update which should have included this ship.

Next time the game crashes, look again in "system.log" and see if it shows the same message or if it shows anything else ending with "can't open geometry file" - if so, which other ship is missing? The update added quite a few.

As you say, I think I'm missing some ship files... What should I do?
How come some ships were not included?
That said, I haven't installed any updates since January 12, 2024... Is there an update to install?

I just looked, I don't have "PinnaceMerchant2" nor "RN_LuggerP" in my "Ships" folder in my "Models" folder...

Download the update again. It's just a zip file, so you can either unzip it straight into your game folder, or you can unzip it somewhere else and copy it into place.

There have not been any new updates since 12th January.

Incidentally, your first "system.log" included another interesting line:

That's nothing to do with your problem. Missing texture files won't cause the game to crash and anyway that's a texture for a character model, not a ship. Presumably you've been FreePlaying as Hector Barbossa because that texture file is used by his character model and it is indeed missing - I don't have it either.

At least, I didn't. I made a small, simple texture file of pure bright red, then started a FreePlay as Barbossa and looked for anything glowing red on him. It turns out that texture is used for his cuffs. So I made a new texture file looking more sensible, and that's going into the next update.
 
Actually I just realized that I didn't install this.

I just installed part one and two but not the zip file to replace yourself

So it's completely normal that I'm missing textures, ships, etc. and therefore my game crashes... So I downloaded the zip folder and replaced the files as instructed and now it works...
