Danielle dialogue not found!!!

minimal_fuss

Landlubber
Just started playing the game again, except this time with the Post Build mod installed.

I'm got to the tavern in Redmond where the chest is taken from you by the 2 blackpearl pirates and where you first meet danielle. I walk into the Tavern after loosing the chest and nothing happens....try to talk to danielle...and it says something like "i cannot find the dialogue for dannielle....blah blah"

Little help? obv some kind of bug with the build mod?

Cheers.

What version of the Post Build 12 mods do you use? Open up "Post Build 12 Version.txt" in your PotC folder. If the date in that file is a date from before 5 March 2006, go to <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org" target="_blank">my site</a>, download and install the update there and start a new game. This is a known bug that I thought was fixed some time ago. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Thanks for telling us! Please report all other bugs you'll find as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

"Post Build 12 Version: Sunday 5 February 2006"

-I've downloaded the newer version, can i simply extract over the top or do i have to de-install anything first?
-Also not liking the sound of restarting the game, can i not load and press I?

Cheers.

You can simply extract it on top. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

You can try using an old savegame and pressing I. Don't count on that working though. Alternatively, you can just extract PROGRAM\DIALOGS\Danielle_dailog.c on top of your current installation and leave the rest. Then you won't need to start a new game.

ah well im only a couple of hours in its no big loss....i'd rather start again with less bugs and re-tweak the settings.

BTW have bodies piling up and getting in the way been fixed? - or can i turn it off? as i often get stuck behinde them and i cant find a setting for them.

Bodies are there to be searched (and subsequently looted). Once looted, they disappear. The space bar "action" command works when you do not have a weapon drawn. Otherwise, I believe the default key is "o". Combat seems to be paused while looting.

There are some settings in the "buildsettings" file that can be set to automatically loot, but if you don't know what you're doing, it's probably not a great plan to monkey with them. It takes some time to figure out exactly what some of them change.

You can loot the corpses with the O-key. The spacebar also works when you don't have your weapon drawn. However, this will be changed in the next update. In the next update you can only loot with the O key. Also: In the next update corpses will disappear after a while, so that should decrease some of the corpses getting in the way. If you put your blade away, you can push the corpses aside when you walk. You can also shoot beyond the corpses (never mind the red marker; the damage IS applied to a living enemy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> ).

You can change the settings in BuildSettings.h to your liking. I have a program that will help you change the settings in BuildSettings more easily and that program will be in the next modpack update as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Having the corpses piling up does have it's advantages as shown in this Screen Shot taken last night while have mega fun.

After going on a killing spree in Redmond for 20 min or so I would go back through & loot the bodies.

Certainly not months. I actually hope to release it this weekend, but it depends on whether the crashes are fixed by then. I could release another update that includes the crashes, but what use are new features if you can hardly manage to leave Oxbay harbour?
