Death scenes help

GEPav

Landlubber
Is there a way to change back to the old death scenes? since right now anyone I kill seems to do a disappearing act and then show up always face down. Also dead bodies just seem to stay there, and if I'm in a cramped place I find myself not being able to move, how would I fix that?

thanks in advance.

"GEPav" while they are lying there face downward, and your standing facing towards their body, try hitting the "O" key and stripping them of their weapons and treasures. Then they should disappear! This is regulated by the BuildSettings.H file and is one of the toggles you can turn off and on "BEFORE" you start your game!

Hope this helps out with "your cramped quarters"

This is a new mod: Lootable corpses. You can loot all corpses from their property by "talking to them". Once you looted them, they'll disappear and you can continue. If you are fighting and a lot of corpses are blocking the way, you can use the "O" key while your blade is drawn to loot them. If you put your blade away, you can walk around. You can use those corpses as a barrier: Enemies can't get to you, but you can use your gun to fire at the enemies. It'll look as if you are targeting the corpses, but in reality, the damage is done to the enemies. If you don't like this mod, set CORPSE_MODE to 0 in BuildSettings.h like Long John Silver suggested.

Thank you, that fixes one of the problems. What about the new deaths? where you don't actually see them fall but suddenly see them face down. Is that another mod? if so how do I disable it? I rather enjoyed the old watching them fall after landing the final blow thing.

BTW terrific mod, seems like a whole different game!

The disappearing and reappearing is unfortunately nescessary for the corpse mod to work properly. Nathan once tried keeping the original death scene, but it didn't work very well. So either you keep the corpse mod or you keep the old death scene.

I'd rather keep the original death scenes. How would I go about deactivating the new one? what would I have to delete or change?

Open up BuildSettings.h, find the setting CORPSE_MODE and set it to 0.

I've done that, and as my last sword stike hits an enemy they dissapear to never be seen again. They don't even like fall, just dissapear. Is this something uncommon?

Uh? I didn't know it worked like that. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Maybe you can try CORPSE_MODE 2 or 3?

I use #3 and I automatically loot the corpse (don't have to search corpses) and the bodies persist but are like ghosts. I wlak right through them. Definatley the way to go. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Hmm, I'll have to try #3 then. Whilst I like the persisting bodies, it's a little tricky when you get a load of stiffs in a confined space...can't move to fight short of the 'sidestep' ghost/no clipping manouvre. Particular problem in tavern brawls and dungeons I find.

If there are a lot of corpses blocking your path, press the "O" button to loot them. You can do this without putting your blade away. After you looted them, they'll disappear.
