Does Build 12 make the game much more like Sea Dogs?

I took PotC back a week after I got it when it was orignally released, but now that I see you've al done a spectacualr job with modding I'm going to pick it up again. I have a question though:
Does the build 12 update make the game much more like Sea Dogs, and less like a Disney movie? I sooo LOVED the orignal Sea Dogs, and was so disapointed by PotC when it first came out.

The Build 12 mods were compiled from a lot of different sources around the PotC modding community - and as such have patched bad `quest-killer` bugs and other nasty things that make your game crash, PLUS added a completely new dimension to a game that was mostly pretty flat and frustrating.

You do not have to battle skeleton pirate crews unless you wish to encounter them in the dungeons; there is now ship traffic you can run into, a nice rumors mod so you can find out info, change your clothing by buying new "skins" at the tailor, there are new ships, new quests and fixes of old quests, a fantastic weapons mod, the ability to lay up ships, and many other things that make the game so much better than before.

It's not like a Disney movie anymore (there's even a brothel, LOL!) - but IMHO it's not like Sea Dogs, either. It's better - there are also a lot of ideas that were in the original Pirates! game that were incorporated into PotC, including dividing the plunder, raising your difficulty levels, and more realistic sailing...

The mods make it so much better... The game is cheaper now, and well worth it if you get and install the Build... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Build 12 is a Community project, that is not necessarilly Themed on another game, it is an enhancement, in my view of POTC, and lots of people have added some very interesting features.

There is another project under works, the PMT Expansion that is being created in the Spirit of Sea Dogs, it is done by a dedicated team so there is not much information flowing about it yet in public, but soon there will be.

Updates will be released in www.piratescrossroads.com in the POTC Moding forum there, which is also the way the PMT, which includes members from both www.thelib.com and www.piratesahoy.net, will be gathering feedback from the player community.

The bright side of all this is that down the line there will be two projects to play, which will make things better for everyone since there will be more variety of choice in gameplay style and personal taste, as not everyone likes the gameplay of Sea Dogs and not everyone likes the Gameplay of POTC <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
I saw that one of the main gripes I had (besides all the bugs and joykillers) with this game is "fixed". Namely the ability to sidestep. I want to try this game and give it another go now, perhaps I'll like it better.

Problem is, I have the european version, and build 12 isn't fixed for that one yet. I can't initialize anything, I can't start a new game. If I try to initialize, it quits back to desktop, no warning or error message whatsoever. If I start a new game, it just goes black and stays that way until I use `ctrl-alt`-delete to end the session.
