Does the "Loan-shark" cheat

well, if it wasn't, it sure will be fixed in the next build now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I don't know if that still works. What's the point of doing that? You do get a debt that way. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

That cheat was supposedly fixed, AKA eliminated, in Build 9.

Pieter, the cheat came in stock POTC and was this:

1. You could drop any money you had in the loanshark's box.

2. You would then ask for a loan, get the money and drop it in the box as well.

3. Without leaving, ask for another loan.
As the Loanshark saw you as having no money, he made the loan.
The bug is that as long as you remained at the Lloanshark's place he only counted one loan.

4. You could then get the money from the box, pay back one loan on the spot, and walk away with the money from the first, forgotten loan.

You could do this over and over before leaving to get even more!

Ah. I see. I expect that one has been fixed many Build versions ago. Back in the days when I didn't yet have PotC at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

There aren't too many people around who remember having to add all the mods one at a time either.

That was pre build when we used Modedit.exe (I think it was called that) and you had to add mods in a specific order for them to work.

When I first got PotC, it was in the days of Build 10. However, that version didn't work with the European release, so I used the mod merge program thingey to make my own assortiment of mods that did work on my game version. Luckily when Build 11 was released, it worked just fine on the European version. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

But what's the point of cheating like this?? Doesn't this ruin your gameplay? You get rich like hell in the beginning and what then, you have no motivation to progress further in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

well, there's always the pearl! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

but you are right, that's exactly why i stopped treasure hunting and smuggling. i'm back to doing trading missions now.
