engine.exe (Insert the correct CD ROM) error!!

Hi, everyone.
I face the following problem. I bought the game last year, installed it, but when trying to run it I get a message to insert the correct CD ROM <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> !!!!! I also installed the game to a friend's pc and it was running without any problem.
In order to run the game I downloaded a crack <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> although the game I bought was original(!!!) and so I did. The game was running perfectly without any problem and I managed to finish it. However I want to play the game again but since I've lost the crack, I can't. I tried to contact bethesda but did not get a reply.

Please help!!!
I want to play the game again.

I own an AMD 2600+ and an ATI RADEON 9600, if it helps. I have installed any add ons or mods and I bought the game from UK (a Game store).

Do you mean you did install mods for your game (aside from the `no-cd` crack), or you did NOT install any mods?

If you have a "stock" game (or are willing to uninstall and make a clean new install) and are interested, PotC fan modders have created some wonderful fixes and new quests for the game that can be downloaded from links in this post:

This should help your problem. The original game as released was pretty buggy, and a lot of the bugs have been fixed via a patch from Akella and work done by PotC fan modders.

Follow the instructions in that thread above, and you should be good to go, with a game that will be SO MUCH BETTER than the first time you played - it'll be like having a whole new game! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

And don't hesitate to come back here to ask if you get stuck or don't like a particular feature, some of the mods are "switchable" - you can turn them off if they are not to your taste!

Sorry about that, I meant i have NOT installed any mods. I'll try the solution you suggest and let you know.

The Euro and US and Russian versions each use different copy protection.
For US, it's in ModulesXInterface.DLL.
For EURO, it's in Engine.EXE
For Russian, it's StarForce, which locks up the scripts too.

(So you can either, um, fiddle, with your Euro EXE, or simply use a US EXE and a fiddle'd XInterface.DLL)
