Escape from Oxbay

I downloaded the great Post Build 12
it is awesome... I liked the game before it so... now it's even better!
I've only a little problem:

I started a new game and when I try to leave Oxbay a rain of cannonballs destroys the Victory before can do anything!!!

is it a bug?
or is it because I skip the movie about the french invasion?
or simply there's nothing I can do to avoid that????? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

It is not a bug; it is intentional. Malcolm Hatcher is supposed tell you to raise French colours before you leave port. Otherwise the French will sink you, because you are flying English colours by default. Change your colours in the nation relation interface.

ooh! yes thanks a lot, it worked!
But strange the first time I was able to escape from Oxbay with no problems (just clicking the map button), the second time I was forced to fight with two english ships that were escaping too!
