Find pirate in waters around town

I have now a problem with these kind of quests. I play with JS combined mod. In order to find the pirat one used to quick-sail to all the ships in the harbour.
The ship with the pirat then changed flag to pirate flag and attacked. But now theres no pirate ship in the harbour anymore. Is there something now with the mod like sailing out to open sea, waiting a few days in order tofind the pirat?

this quest isn't so easy as you think ...your not the first with this question...

most time the pirates in this random quest attack everyone (your ship) who comes too close...but sometimes the pirates didn't attack and you have to visit the captains and speak with them...ask if they had seen a pirate and one will tell you that he is the one...or he wil only engage your ship if you back on it...don't remember what he said

Yes i remember when i had a quest to hunt down and kill the pirate preying on ships in the area, i used the sail to, to every ship and spoke to ever captain but no luck. I sailed around the island and as i did more ships was generated every so often. It didn't take long to find the pirate ship but if i had not sailed around the island i would never have found the pirate ship, again if he doesn't switch to the pirate flag when near the ship, go and speak with the captain.
