Unconfirmed Bug Game crashed and wiped the last ~20 save files + now all saves "incompatible"

I was playing Bartholomeo e Portugueses storyline and boarded a ship which was not part of a story quest. Upon talking to the captain on deck the game crashed and when I started it back up, clicked on „load“ it froze for 10 seconds and then showed me all the save files as „incompatible save“ and upon that wiped the last ca. 20 saves. The save files are also gone from the game files save folder. All profiles are now not playable, really not sure what happened there. The game version is still the same.

That "compile.log" shows that you have installed the update. It will indeed not recognise games saved from the January 2022 version. One of the changes in the update involves an important system variable, which means it does indeed crash when you save a game, which is why the version number was changed so that it won't recognise an old save. It will save and reload games which were started after you installed the update. So you will need to start a new game, whether trying "Bartolomeu" again or a different storyline.

I installed the update a few days ago and after that I started a new Playthrough. The bug occurred on the newer version with compatible save files - only after the crash they became incompatible

There is some confusion here. Your "compile.log" says at the start:

Then, when you tried to load a savegame:

INCOMPATIBLE SAVE: -=Player=- Cuba. Playa de Sierra Maestra October 9th, 1660 is compatible with 14.999
INCOMPATIBLE SAVE: -=Player=- Open Sea October 7th, 1660 is compatible with 14.999
INCOMPATIBLE SAVE: -=Player=- Open Sea October 8th, 1660 is compatible with 14.999
INCOMPATIBLE SAVE: -=Player=- Cuba. Playa de Sierra Maestra October 9th, 1660 is compatible with 14.999

Those are attempts to load saves from a 2022 installation. Such files are not compatible with the 2026 installation.

Also, look in the top level of the game installation for a file called "options". This sometimes becomes corrupted, especially after a crash. Delete it. A new "options" file will be created next time you run the game. If you changed anything such as gameplay choices or key assignments, you'll need to change them again.

That’s very weird and leaves me even more confused Not sure what happened there, I guess I’ll just reinstall it all. Thank you
