Happy Birthday yo ho ho

I know we are not extremely efficient about recognizing birthdays around here, but for individuals whose achievements have contributed to the betterment of our hobby and in particular our beloved pirate video games, this is one time when we can take a moment to say thank you.

I don't know how much yo ho ho hangs around here these days. I've seen his name pop up from time to time. For those that don't know, he is the master modeler that built many of the great ships that can be found in the Build mods and the CM/GOF mods. Among these gorgeous ships are the Venus, Neptune, Batavia, Heavy Dutch merchantman, the Sirius variants, Wappen von Hamburg (Heavy lineship) and one of my all time favorites ever the beautiful Dutch Escort Ship.

Mate I want to personally wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and thank you for the hours of pleasure and fun that your beautiful creations have brought to my life. Our COAS mods have had well over 8000 downloads and I'm certain that hundreds of people feel the same way I do about your work. I hope you have a GREAT ONE Mate!

What ships are the Venus, Heavy Dutch merchantman and Dutch Escort Ship? We've probably got them in the Build Mod under a different name, but those names do not sound familiar to me.

Pieter, They are indeed all in the Build mod. That's where we got them from to port into COAS. Although I don't remember seeing the Heavy Dutch merchantman in the Build mod. Craiggo did some fantastic reskins of that ship! We did take some of the models directly from Yo ho ho's FTP folder. I think that Venus is the merchant variant of the Neptune.

AH! I've just checked some of Yo Ho Ho's files from his FTP folder, just to make sure we're not missing out on anything, and it turns out that:
Venus and the Dutch Trader are the VCO-based Warship11 and Merchant11
Neptune and Seven Provincien are both based on the old PotC pinnace hull; we've got the Seven Provincien in the Build Mod

Is the Heavy Dutch merchantman you refer to the same as the Dutch Trader aka. Merchant11?

And the Dutch Escort Ship you refer to, is that by any chance the Dutchlineship1?
I think that's actually a completely custom model by Yo Ho Ho and definitely a beauty, especially with Thomas the Terror's texture-work on her.

As far as I'm aware, Yo Ho Ho did three custom ship models, namely a Dutch Lineship, a Dutch Pinnace and the ConvoiShip (Wappen von Hamburg).

It's been a long while since we ported those ships, but all the names you mention sound correct. We did some renaming in COAS. Wappen von Hamburg and Dutchlineship are both beautiful works of art. Even with all the new ships, those two are still in my top five favorites. Craiggo did some nice new skins of the Wappen von Hamburg which we call Heavy Lineship in COAS. yo ho ho left the taffrail blank. I asked Craiggo to put a Dutch coat of arms held by lions on the stern. She looks really good with the add ons. He did another skin where he photo shop'd the Prince Willem's stern onto her. He also did an English version that looks fantastic with the lion and unicorn. You guys should get those textures into build mod.

yo ho ho is truly a great talent.
