help with modifying character_init

ok so recently my pirate copy of pirates of the caribbean got stolen (or should i say plundered), so i took it upon myself to buy a legit copy like an honest sailor. since doing this, when i edit the characters_init.c file none of the changes take effect. can anyone help?

Ahoy, Malakian,

Are you trying to see the changes take effect in a saved game? If you haven't tried it, start a new game and see if the changes take effect.

Someone else, who knows more than I do about these things, will probably be along shortly and may be able to help you more, but this is something you can check in the meantime.

I had struggled and struggled and STRUGGLED with the code before I FINALLY got FB to talk using the hired officer dialogs... I was so GLAD it finally worked!

So I know EXACTLY what you mean...
