How do i disable ship screenshots mod?

L0M3N

Sailor
As the title would suggest, I want to disable the new interface screenshots of ships.
The reason is lag.
Even when i capture a ship and it only shows 2 pictures it lags.
I want to go back to the original generic ship pictures.

AAAAAGH; that was a lot of work to get working again. I had done it in the past and lost my work.
Then when I did it again today, I noticed a lot of additional work needed to be done to prevent ships without pictures.
Now the only ships without pictures will be the cursed galleons.

Note that these files are for Build 14 Beta 1 Patch 6, so be sure to get that first if you don't have it yet.
Before trying these files, please check if you also have lag with Patch 6.
If you do, please let us know if the lag is gone when using these files.
Also, please post your system specifications here.

Note to Armada: Please install this file too! I made a fair few changes to ships_init.c
and pictures.ini and intend to include this in the next release.
At the top of ships_init.c, set #define SHIP_INTERFACE_SCREENSHOTS 1 to get the new pictures back.

Getting that file to post was TOO much trouble. NOT FUNNY!!!! :modding :whipa :boom Etc.

OK Pieter, I've got the file and am merging it with my install. :yes

Woah, calm down before you break something! :shock At least it uploaded successfully, right?

Really? I thought I'd noticed a slight improvement since the site was brought back online. :?
What are you finding to be unstable?

the pages unable to load half the time. that's not even exaggerating. it's often easier to just restart the main page than go through the hassle of returning to previous pages or refreshing. also, trying to remove attachements from an existing post breaks the site.

Very strange. I haven't experienced that myself.
The worst I get is being signed out after trying to post a reply, but that's usually down to a phone ringing, which always cuts off my internet connection temporarily. :facepalm
Have you said anything to Keith?

Maybe Pieter's issue is that he is currently at sea, so maybe that was his frustration with posting? So far, since the Big Down Time, i have not had any issues with the site - although i have been away for the last month! maybe i'll find some as i get more active again? (i hope not).

Well Pieter has warned us that his internet connection is pretty poor at sea, so that doesn't help things his end.
If that's combined with what Morgan has gone through, then the site would seem like a nightmare to navigate. :modding

it doesn't seem that bad with navigating the site, actually. it starts acting up when i post and such, though many pages i try to open in the first place bugger up as well.

On the whole, the site seems quite OK to me. Just yesterday when posting that file, it kept logging me out,
complaining about "authorization keys", attaching the file then disappearing, then trying to make another post with it as an attachment,
that failing too, then FINALLY succeeding, only to find that the original attachment magically appeared to the previous post.
It was really quite ridiculous, but that is more exception than rule.

I have no doubt that it is because of my at-sea internet connection, so I'm just going to have to deal with the occasional stupid stuff.
It's not exactly the first time I'm at sea, so I'm largely used to it. It was just worse this time than I've seen before.

Thank you so much Pieter! My specs are
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ 2.50 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1300 Pro video card
and the only lag i got was from ship pictures and im pretty sure
it is all gone now.

Well, that does prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it causes lag. Good to know, so thanks for the confirmation. :doff
Not a bad computer at all though; beats me WHY it would lag. We better keep that toggle though in case somebody else encounters it. :facepalm

Wow.
So i installed a fresh copy of pirates and slapped on build 14 beta full
and patch 6 full. And guess what happened. No more lag in shipyard interface.
This is really weird. I would be happy except the rest of the game looks bad.
Specifically water looks bad and one time was shiny and oily and dialogue text and the terrible resolution.
Whereas they look good on my light install where i get shipyard lag.

Pic below is some of the wacked out ugly water I've been seeing.
Never had this problem on patch 5 or even patch 6 light.

To fix the oily water problem you need the Bump.zap file - see this post & thread for explanation ---->> http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php/topic/17627-water-issue/page__view__findpost__p__398808

:drunk

well after changing the resolution in engine.ini the shipyard lags again...
this is very frustrating.
I had no lag at all at the shipyard on 800 by 600
resolution.
Now that I set it to 1280 by 1024 I am back to completely terrible lag.
