How do i save a game?

I can go under 'status' and then quit out, but it doesnt allow me to save. I see theres a disc looking icon under the options, but i cant seem to highlight it, i'm guessing its the save button.

Somebody pls help! I cant play the game anymore unless i figure out how to save.

oh and i've checked the manual but cant find anything about saving in it.

You can't save while docked in a town, you have to send your ship out to see then save using the same methods you stated in your post.

I dont know why this is, but it is. I would have to assume the programming must have had a problem starting up with a pirates ship in the town already.

No you can't. You can save at sea or on land, but NOT while in town, during a conversation or during a battle., Game manual page 4

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure I saved in a town. I know you could in beta.

I dont know why they would have changed it since beta, because it seems to be a natural place to save the game, (while Im in a town), kind of like docking the fleet and saving the game to play again tommorrow, but everytime I tried it the icon was grayed out and wouldnt let me save it. It took me a while to figure out you can't save in town, but then I looked it up in the manual thinking I was doing something wrong, and thats where I came up with the quote above from the manual.

For a while there I thought I dont get to save anything myself, and the game does all the saves exclusively.

Anyway, the game does a bad job of saving anyway. I'd much have preferred to be able to save my games on my hard drive where I like, and name them what I like. But that aint so.
