<!--QuoteBegin-rschissler+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(rschissler)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Any comments as to the original question? How do the ship to ship sea battles compare to Sea Dogs or POTC?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Well, they are different, because this game is different - more like an arcade game rather than a computer game, in some ways (i.e., ship maneuverability). The SMP `ship-to`-ship battles can be a little like an `air-to`-air dogfight - quick, and if you aim right, you can USUALLY sink your enemy without too much trouble...
WIND is a great factor in SMP in the upper levels - you will learn early to be sure you have the weather eye before initiating the battle - and then you should again be able to either sink or board (boarding is better, IMHO), usually with very little trouble.
PotC `ship-to`-ship battles are slower and perhaps a bit more exacting in how you have to line up your ships... Wind is still a factor, but more on the pursuit side rather than maneuverability.
In SMP, there are different degrees of difficulty - and each level up brings more challenge in maneuvering your ship. In PotC the difficulty levels are more in the HP of a particular ship or personal combatant.
