How to dodge

Hi all,

Decided to do another playthrough after a couple of years! I cannot actually remember dodging ever, but supposedly it is an option by pressing z.

I just started the hoist the colours story. Is there something you need to do to unlock it or something? Because nothing is happening when I try it out.

It should make you take a step backwards in combat. It won't work while you're pressing the key to block. Of course, if you stop pressing that, you're likely to be hit and it still won't work for a moment. It also won't work if there's something behind you, such as a wall, one of your officers, or another enemy.

So I don't make much use of dodge myself. About the only time I use it is when I advance through a narrow opening to let the enemies know I'm there, then press Z to step back, then they need to come through that opening one at a time and can't surround me.

Hmm Z doesnt do that for me, but double clicking S does. I see where you're coming from that it is not very effective. Thanks though!
