I have a quicky question. When you open up International Affairs in yer menu, at the bottom left it says: <b>NATHANIEL IS KNOWN AS:</b> And then it says "Unknown Freebooter"...What exactly does that mean and how can you change it and does it help anything.

Ah, that's your notoriety - early on in the game you are known as "Unknown Freebooter" and as you gain experience your notoriety goes up - if you travel to all the islands, if you interact more with the citizens there, if you do work for the merchants or the governors, that kind of thing... Your notoriety is how `well-recognized` you are in the archipelago.

It's not your reputation - like Matey or Horror of the High Seas - that's how good or bad you happen to be. Your notoriety is linked to how long you've played the game and how much you've interacted with how many people...

I *think* it may have some influence on how well you are received when you talk to the governors... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

fraid not, only your reputation and/or your rank have an effect, and that's only on *some* of the governors. (and they say the same things, it only affects how politely they say them hehe <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> )

as far as i know your notoriety has no effect in the game...
