ey guys,

I just started this game, with the mods. I'm playing now build14A7, and encounterd something funny/buggy. My life keeps regenerating, is that normal? :p , its just like a healing posion is stuck or something :p . I can't really remember that is was that way in the begining.

You might've taken <i>Toughness</i> ability, which, as I recall, was gimped that way <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Toughness shouldn't increase your life THAT fast. But sometimes I seem to notice that it does. For example: When fighting enemies that have the toughness abaility, their health seems to regenerate just as fast as you decrease it by attacking. That is overdone, because you can keep fighting forever that way.

yeah, I saw the Toughness thing, only I think its bit overpowerd :p just 1 (good) hit and a sec ltr life is full again :p

Exactly. I already toned it down a while ago, but it's still REALLY overpowered. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

not in my experience. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> it's just about right.

Do you ever encounter enemies with the toughness ability? I encounter them fairly frequently and their HP regenerates just as quickly as it decreases because of my attacks. That is a bit overdone, is it not? Basically you can't win from one enemy with toughness unless you have the Critical Hit ability, which you really, really need in that case. Now imagine being surrounded by multiple enemies with that ability. JIKES! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

take them out one by one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> i always learn all the combat abilities first, and then other things. combat skill is high on my list too, which is why i use the old skill system. maybe it would be a good idea to increase the combat skill increase speed, so the player can handle those foes with toughness when he starts meeting them.

I do share Pieter point of view, and I personnaly don't like this ability - most of the time, if the guy who have this ability cannot be killed in one strike, he cannot be killed at all. I recall meeting a 1500-Hp captain with that ability once, even throwing him a dozen of bombs hiden in the wall couldn't change a thing.

Borgiablade? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

But seriously this ability is still not balanced properly. If the enemy HP regenerates just as quickly as the player takes it away, it makes for some really long, challenging but ultimately boring fights. I think we need to tone it down some more.

well, i've never had a problem with fighting enemies, but that's just me. if it's turned down more, it's function would change. it would just make it an ability to regain health after a battle so you don't need any potions to do so and make you pretty much immune to poison because you can gain health fast enough to compensate the loss of it. potions would then be used like they used to be: to regain health in battles. the only difference is that you don't have to use another potion after you've killed all the enemies, which sounds good to me. however, i think that the potions are a bit underpowered. at a high level, you need tons of potions to counter the damage from a single hit. it's just not doable anymore. either the excisting potions should be tweaked, or better potions should be added in addition to the excisting ones. or you could use bandages and such, if you prefer. something like adding a quality level to healing items might do the trick.

How about making the bandages and cauterization kits work like normal, then making the potions much stronger, much more rare and make them not appear until later into the game?

yes, i came up with pieter's idea later today. the potions should be made stronger. nothing else, except the tweaking.

yep yep. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
