Is the game progession too fast ?

Hi,

I am playing under corsair difficulty, with the experience acquisition slider almost at the top.

Despite that, after about 3/4 hours of the games, I am able to drive a 3rd rate ship without penalty.

I am going to raise the few notches left but that's not gonna change a lot I guess.

Bottomline I am going to end sailing with a battle manowar in about 3 more hours of game, and I do not get the rewarding feel of having earned the right to do so.

Does increasing the difficulty from corsair to above reduces experience acquisition as well ? Otherwise is there any simple setting I can use to slow caracter progession further ?

I think it should basically to be at least 3 times slower.....

Difficulty level does have some effect, but it mostly makes everyone you face tougher and many encounters change in frequency. For instance you will find merchants often telling you to "come back tomorrow", and it is harder to hire officers, keep them happy, as well as the crew. It is also harder to keep your reputation high.

The "Rate of Experience Increase" slider is the real key here though. Slide it all the way to the left if you don't like how fast you're progressing. Try playing one or two difficulty levels up to Commodore or Admiral if you think it's too easy. I personally like Corsair, although I play with the slider all the way left.

Sounds like you're having fun anyway.
