LugerVML parts on other ships?

hipperion

Landlubber
TOday iv checked a luger VML. IT LOOKS AWSOME !!! makes you feel you ar e playing totaly different game. What i came with is an idea to incorporate parts of it in other ships. Im thinking of cannons and the wheel. Im no modder but (correct me if im wrong) i think it should be easy to "cut and paste" pices of it on other ship models. What do you think ?

the reason why the lugger VML is so detailed is it's size. there is a certain limit to the amount of polygons on a ship, that's why a detailed ship has to be small. you can make big detailed ships, but it would cause serious lag. however, i do think that certain parts could be put on another ship, as long as they have a seperate locator. maybe that could be arranged so the pieces can be put on any other ship.

What the HECK are you talking about??? The game can handle quite detailed models. The HMS Surprise is the most polygon heavy of them all, because all polygons are at least doubled. This is useless, but we can't really do anything about it. In any case: More detail IS possible. The problem is twofold: We need people to ADD the detail and we have MAJOR troubles exporting models correctly. Apparently the shading keeps being messed up, whether it's obvious or not. Not to mention the collision dtection. Although that should be less of a problem on existing models, because they already have proper collision detection which can be copied to the modified model. Easiest way of adding parts: Make the part a seperate model and add it through a new locator on the original model. This is quite possible. Ask Kazeite.

i think, that if i would have a vacation, i might even start work on an improved flying dutchman with sculptures on it, using the current one as a base. but i think that it would be a lot more difficult done than said.

Sounds ambituous. You'll need to learn 3D modeling for that. Which is not impossible, but don't count on it being easy. I learned it after a while, so you should be able to as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

well, there's no need of telling me now, but the first thing i would need to know is what stuff i would need. then i'll probably just go to kazeite and nosie for tips and advice on how to figure out how it works. (nosie made the bermuda sloop, remember?) (it was him, right?)

NOOOOOO! Nosie didn`t make nuthing! (sorry nosie!) It was Captain August who did it! But he is absent, just as Kazeite and Insane!

ugh. this forum is making me more and more forgetfull. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
