modding the Black Pearl

I don`t like the black pearl as the model it is in the game, the masts sails aren`t right. So i have 2 idea`s for a "black pearl":

1. Put other masts and sails on it, like Captain Hawk did with his pinnace and keep the orginal hull.
2. Or take Captain Hawk`s white whale pinnace and give it a black skin (and tweak the speed settings, cannon number etc.)

So what do you modders think he?

I have an other question, I want ot try to do the sails and masts myself, so if someone who is familiar with that, could give me links for the needed programmes and a tutorial about it, i would rally appreciate it.
