Hello, I havn't played this game in a couple of months, and the prospect of reinstalling it again hasn't been seeming so foolish. This game + Mod is GREAT, I know, but what are some reasons I should get back into the game + mod? I just need some reassurance.
Thanks in advance,

smoke looks realistic
cannon balls actually are useful
you can demast enemy ships
you can change your flag to decieve your enemies
you can sail the uber sexy bermuda sloop
you can obtain a letter of marque
you can be granted titles and estates
you can sail directly from one island to the next in first person view
you can change your character's looks, visit your own captain's cabin.
semi realistic (far more realistic than stock game) sailling, waves, and reload times

I could continue but I think I've provided enough motivation

you forgot three times as many quests, and rarely any crashes. those two are pretty important if you ask me. not to mention the countless amount of ships. and the main quest being rebuilt to fit jack sparrow's story. and all the new characters.

Not to mention the navigation by moon and sun - and the BEAAUTIFUL lighting effects that the sun has - even translating onto your sail, and to the islands you are sailing past. You can also now walk around in 3rd person on your boat, and chill with your crew. I'm not sure if you still move while you are doing it though. I'm tempted to assume that you do though - because it seems kinda silly to just go in there, and not continue to move. Oh - not to mention that while you are sailing in 1st person - you get warnings from teh Crow's next about nearby ships, land, and once I even got one about somebody drowning nearby or something. Trust me - it's worth it.

and by the way - Cheese is totally so awesome. I could go for some grilled cheese about now. maybe I'll buy some. yes, that sounds nice.

I can't see myself UNINSTALLING it...Waiting for the final build ,,,but hell I have folders with game saves still to play .

You guys.... Are good! Cheers! I'm downloading the mod tonight, installing game tommorow.
Thanks for the helps!

Oh, sorry for the side question, any idea when the next version of the mod will be ready?

i doubt that anyone knows. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> some things just suddenly appear. these include some of the mods. other mods don't though.

oh: the ship in le_sigh's signature is the bermuda sloop! the cabin is a walk-in cabin that you can access from the deck. which reminds me: you can now walk through your entire ship while at sea and in port!

Thanks morgan.

One of the great things I love about this game is that it really gets the most out of my GeForce 440. So it dosn't look half bad I must say! Thanks again for the help.

well it ain't oblivion but it's still pretty nice, I especially like what the modders have done with it -wonders when a professional company will finally make a pirate game the right way.

the decks you can walk through are unrealistic at best, though for something you couldn't do before but now can do it's pretty impressive. I modified them on mine, just small things like all my frigates and corvettes now use the same captain's cabin as the pinnace and brig cause it's more realistic the bermuda sloop now uses the cabin for the regular sloop while prior it was using the stock frigate one wich really belongs on a man of war or other large merchant type ship instead of a sleek frigate.
I wish i had a modeling program and was good at it cause i'd take the surprise frigate, and add so much detail you'd crap yourself, and seeing as how I have the deck plans for it, you'd be guaranteed a walk in cabin on the main deck and such =)

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> So, why don't you share it???

it never stops to amaze me how people are thankful for a post of mine that's about absolutely nothing, gives no useful info at all, at makes little sense. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

well, the first part of the post anyway.

share what? I didn't do anything spectacular, I just thought some of the cabins would be better suited for different ships, and thus changed the variable on em like how pirate_kk showed me when I asked him. I didn't create anything new or anything like that.

well, share the files that you changed. i, amongst others, would like to have those changes as well.

yeah - seems to make sense - I wouldn't mind grabbing that too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

will do =)

okies what I did is, just how pirate KK showed me, in ships_init (program>ships>ships_init.txt) where under each ship where it shows the stats ya got something that says refShip.AbordageLocation = "BOARDING_FRIGATE" or something like that.

well i haven't sailed every ship, and I suppose i should create a character, turn off rp sy and turn on cheats and give myself a lot of money and go through every single ship in the game (what a task considering I don't even know how to get some of the ships in the game) and go through each cabin.

howver, this is what i've changed so far in mine.

for the bermuda sloop, I believe default is boarding frigate or something like that, so where it says "BOARDING_CORVETTE" I turned it to "BOARDING_SLOOP" and gave it the sloop cabin

for surprise, I gave it "BOARDING_PINNACE" now that doesn't exactly fit the ship model, however if ya ever watched master and commander you'll see that it is closer to what it was like in the movie, adn it's still closer to what it would be like for the ship model compared to it's current one.

for the pirate corvette, and really you could do this for all the ships in teh game who use the original corvette from the escape from oxbay as the base for their model. I initially had boarding pinnace but while that cabin is very sexy it's not accurate. so I changed it to BOARDING_SCHOONER wich is almost completely spot on. it isn't all that bad either, it's not all that luxurious in the painting of the walls and carpeting, but it's still nice, ya even got yer own house of relief "toilet room" on the larboard side. let me take some screenies so you can see how accurate that is comparted to what it was.

okies here's default corvette cabin

<img src="http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2195/corvettedefaultqg9.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

and here's the stern of a corvette

<img src="http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/7581/corvettesternyy7.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

you can see that the cabin doesn't fit with the model of a corvette even remotely.

and here's schooner default

<img src="http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/1363/schoonerdefaultzk6.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

you will see that it's almost exact. it's like this cabin was originally designed for the corvette. there is only a single significant flaw in the cabin's design and that is the two windows on the broadside are farther apart than they are on the model, but who gives a crap they're still there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> even the demensions of the cabin as a whole fit that of the corvette's quarterdeck.

there's no file needed you just go in manually and apply the change in ships init. if ya want yer corvette to have the apropriate cabin go to ships init, do a search for pirate corvette and then change the "BOARDING_CORVETTE" to "BOARDING_SCHOONER" save,. then go to your game and press F11 to re inititalise and yer set. if I'm going ot make an entire file to replace the current one, I might as well do every single ship, wich is going to require me to go and sail every single ship so that i can see what cabin would be most apropriate for it =P

yes, but i'm lazy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> i mean, just post your ships init here as an attachement for us to download. i like the changes you made.

very well matey, mine are far from acurate yet but I'll post it for now. I do however want to figure out the most efficient way to own every single ship, like i wish there was a way to have htem all show up at one shipyard so that i could just go down the line if someone could tell me how to do that it'd make the task of fixing the cabin for each ship easyer.

had to make another post as posting on my gaming computer. I can't post the attachment as I am not permittoed to upload this type of file aparently. it won't even let me upload it on hyperjump >.< I'm afraid yer gonna have to do it manually, I tried though ^-^
