Need help

Okay I just bought Pirates Live the life for my PC. Now it meets all requirements but....after about 5 minutes the game goes to black and I have to reboot. I have a Radeon 7000 video card could that be the problem? I have tried everything on all the forums to make it work with no luck.

Patch has been installed with no help.
Drivers were updated about a week ago
I am running Windows XP on a HP 1.3mhz
256 mb of ram
ATI Radeon 7000 64mb video card

I am at wits end with this. I enjoyed the original game but this is frustrating.

first the aside
Win XP with 256 is like a Jeep with no tires. It just seems to run.
If you can bring yourself to double your system memory it will feel like an entirely new machine.
Lets hope against hope that you have one of those rare P5 mother boards that doesn't use that silly uber expensive dead-end RDRAM.
My HP 1.3 does.
The memory upgrade for that probably costs around $128 for the 2 sticks of 64m each.

Now the more probable answer.
1.3 mhz is more than enough horsepower to run Pirates!
My money is on your video card.
The vid makes or kills this game. If memory serves (likely very mistaken here, but . . .) ATI gives Firaxis games fits. Especially the older ones. And 1.3 mhz is an older system.
What would it cost you to upgrade to a 128 or 256m vid card?
Be careful here, your PC may not have enough power to run the new vid, and to make matters worse, the HP case may not have enough room for a new power supply.
My HP has a extra large PS and easily powers the new vid.
The newer machine is in a smaller case with a super short PS and it did not have enough power for that same card.

Oh interesting detail ->
the newer machine using the new vid card would run for a (short) while then crash.
The problem was the power supply.
Not enough juice for that card.
The PS could be your problem especially if the Vid card is new.
