Need video card help!

hey guys, I just bought this Pirates! game and I am having video trouble...Whenever I start the game, the opening cinematics run fine, but when I get to the main menu, I see nothing but a light blue screen. I called tech support and they told me that my video card was TOO good (wtf?) and I would have trouble running the game. I am working with an IBM thinkpad, and am using an ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 card. Any hope or any way of getting this to work? help!
