Hey im new i recently decided to try this game out again as the first time it was'nt really me. With this new build it gives many new things that would make this game awsome. I downloaded the build13_full. I double click on it and nothing happens except i get a beeping noise. The icon of the file is a gold key. I opened the file and looked for what kinda file it is and it was a exe. So should'nt it work?? Its a 195 MB

If you have the org game you'll have to  unrar or unzip the file and than install it into the main dir. of the game! It pays to read the help files! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Hey I looked around and ive finally fixed all my problems im running into some basic probelms. Eg some times when I make a new character my F2 button won't work. I've also been wanting to know whats the fastest ship in the ocean because my gunboat is useless. :p

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> You chose to start with a gunboat? Oh. Well if that's how you like to do it...

I'm not sure what the fastest ship in the game is now (it used to be the corvette), but I know that schooners are generally very fast. If you can get a schooner, it should serve you well. The Xebec is pretty quick. Sloops and cutters are also fast.

Most of the for'n'aft rigged (basically means no square sails) ships are pretty fast (with the exception of your gunboat and such). Luggers are pretty quick. Some brigs are fast (particularly the brigantine). If you want a ship that's mainly quick and fast, go for the schooner, sloop, or xebec. If you want a heavier broadside with good speed, the brigs and the brigantine are good choices and schooners and xebecs are heavier in the broadside than the sloop. Of course some of the lighter frigates have good speed. If you are playing the simulation mode, the for'n'aft rigged ships will let you sail closer to the wind too so they will be faster than square riggers when sailing into the wind.

(We should really try to get a new schooner model. If I can get decent on the 3d modeling, I'll try for a schooner model, but that may take a while <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> )

hey, gunboats are fun! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> you really should have a go at them.

the fastest all-time ship is the pirate-designed fast schooner. 19.2 knots with a 15 knot wind! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> (note: all ship speeds listed in the stats are calculated for a 15 knot wind in arcade mode)

a fast AND really strong ship is the war galleon. it's fast enough to keep up with most things, and is strong enough to prevent anything faster from escaping.

Thanks Lord Perfect and Mogan! I have started playing and i've taken over a couple of fleets now im moving up to journeyman so i can see how it is. I've also started trying out to make my own character in game, how the dialouge works and ship making. Thanks to everyone this mod rocks and i've played this game 15+ hours in the last todays :p. Only if you character could be on deck when you'r ship is sailing that would be really cool. E.g Your a captain! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> How do you captain your ship when your no where in site. Of course you can go on "Deck" But you cant see anything there. I think it would be really cool to see the captain on top the the ship. Thanks,

maybe the glowing orb thingy (not going to reveal more, sorry) could be replaced by a texture. maybe it could even be made in a way that it always looks like you.

I just took a war galleon. I'm sailing a 20 gun brig. I easily outmanuevered the thing, but I'm sure in the right hands she would have put up a much stronger fight. I had one problem though; I krept up right next to the galleon knowing that most of the galleon's cannon could not aim at my hull, but then I couldn't fire my cannons. I wanted to beat his measily crew into submission before boarding, but for some reason my guns decided they didn't want to fire. This has happened to me quite a number of times. I'll be crossing the T and about to put a hurt on the enemy when suddenly my men decide they don't want to shoot the guns. The guns are loaded, I haven't pressed enter, and I won't even be steering when I give the command to fire. So far it hasn't really caused me much pain. It just makes battles last longer than usual.

And maybe I'll play around with gunboats sometime. I'll create a squadron of four and have them laid up for whenever I want to do some coast raiding. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

gunboats are only effective on their own. otherwise they're just good at sinking.

you should press space to fire. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> anyway, i've met that bug a few times myself. but not very much. i think it's just dependant on wether there's a brig involved. it always occured with brigs around.

Yeah I guess the ai wouldn't know how to use gunboats. In history, gunboats were normally used in large groups to bring many cannons to bear on enemy ships, but I guess you don't get the degree of control over your allied ships as you need to do that.

I'm looking for a good schooner now so maybe I won't get the bug as much. And I was just pushing spacebar, but you probably realized that.

trust me, there ARE such twits. one of them thought that he couldn't land at an island from the world map because there was white stuff near the shore stopping him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

you should get a pirate designed fast schooner then. be sure to get your sailing skill really high though, otherwise you'll be going so fast that you keep crashing into everything because you can't turn quick enough. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
