New Pirate Game from Ascaron called Tortuga in early 2005!

DonkeyPirate

Landlubber
There will be a new Pirate Game from Ascaron called Tortuga (well at least in Germany it will be called this way, since the first Tortuga was named "Piraten: Herscher der Karibik" in Germany)

It will be an Action Adventure about an ex Slave "Aurelius" (no he's no Gladiator or somthing, really) living in the 16th century.
The Game will have 35 Cutscenes and main part will be 3D Shipfights and Swordfights. It should be releasd in the first quarter of 2005!

Here a link (it's german):

Wow, didn't know word about this had gotten out yet. Unfortunately I have no inside information about it other than it's being made, though I'll try to have one of the Ascaroonies spill some info about it in English.

Hmm sounds like i need to have a word wth Mirko about this, nice heads up DP <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I wonder if it will be a real game or a PRclone...

Ok, visited (the german) Ascaron Homepage and saw it there too.

Here if anyone is intrested: <a href="http://www.ascaron.com/d/news/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.ascaron.com/d/news/index.html</a>

Due to their advertise, the Game will have great Graphics and Sound!
Well they also say there will be more Info soon. Whenever I read something new on this Game I will post it here and try to translate as much as I can.

If I like it, I will buy it and then write a review about it (reminds me to finish my Treasure Planet: BfP Review and my Asterix Pirates Special).

Here's the Link: <a href="http://www.gamestar.de/aktuell/screenshots/PlayerPicList.jsp?galleryId=968" target="_blank">http://www.gamestar.de/aktuell/screenshots...p?galleryId=968</a>

Looks nice! I would like to know if on the Interface we see the damage of the cannons or their loading time? Guess we'll have to wait until we find out

And 10 FPS isn't very smooth! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> But the Game isn't finished yet!

Thankee thar, DonkeyPirate! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Arrr, did ye notice de orientation o' de flags in de second screenie? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Seems de wind be goin' in all directions! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

What's up wid de blue hallow about de ship in de center? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Wow, those graphics look pretty `sharp-hopefully` there'll be a way to turn down some of the options to allow the game to run decently on lower to mid range systems. The water and the reflections on the water look really good. With water that looks that good, I wonder if there'll be weather such as storms? It'd be awesome to see a big storm like in Sea Dogs with graphics like that.

Looks like just one ship being controlled by the player, against multiple opponents. And yeah it does look like the wind is going every which way!

The blue circle thingie, I'm not sure about. Probably just a marker so you know which ship is yours and where it's at? I'm guessing here.

Who knows, don't forget it's still early in its development, and much is likely to change between now and release. Hopefully there will be an international beta test in a month or so, if there is I'll grab a beta version and let you know what it's like.

Interesting.... I guess I'll take a look at this game and see what it's got <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yeah, maybe Halenthal is right about the blue circle. Maybe you can zoom out and then it would be easier to track your own ship.

We'll just have to wait and see. I will keep my eyes open on this game.

Thanks DP, more news material <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I got put onto a PR person in england about it, but mirko says there will be some screen shots this week coming out and about

Cheers DP more news material <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Thanks, and here's more:

Found this on the German Ascaron homepage today:

Here's the link: <a href="http://www.ascaron.com/d/news/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.ascaron.com/d/news/index.html</a>

And here's an translation. I hope you can understand it. I did the best I can: <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

<b>The Caribbean at the Time of the Hero:</b>

The Caribbean in the year 1660… Spain is weakening under the pressure of the new nations, which all want their share of the treasure. Since England and France posses only few Ships they use Pirates and legitimate Cutthroats, the Privateers. Slowly many towns are forming into Outskirts of Hell, markets for theft and smuggled Goods and for slaves and prostitutes. This is the ideal time for corrupt officials, brutal officers and power hungry gouvernors. The most evil of all is the Spanish Gouvernour DeRojas. He plans to replace the weak Spanish Vice King and build up an own Empire, an Empire contempting for human beings and one of exploitation and suppression.

<b>The Legend of the lost Silver Fleet (Treasure Fleet):</b>

Francis Drake, Privateer under Elizabeth I., sacked Nombre de Dios, near Panama, at 1572 and captured the Silver Fleet. But 6 Ships under Admiral Don Pablo de Servantes escaped the greed of the English and disappeared at the Bermuda Triangle (Shark infested and full of Shipwrecks). Myth and Legends began, did a Seamonster sunk the Ships or did the Crew overpowered by greed kept all the Gold? Or was it a curse that transformed de Servantes and his Crew into Ghost (sounds somehow familiar if you ask me <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> )? Fear and Superstition keeps most Merchants and Sailors avoid this Region. But 6 Ships full of Gold are a treasure, which Pirate, Freelancer or ambitions Gouvernours can’t hold back for long.

<b>The Game:</b>

The Action Adventure “Tortuga: Revenge of the Pirates” describes in the way of a classic Piratestory the adventurous life the exslave Aurelius, an adventures and treasure hunter, who sails with his Pirate ship through the unknown Archipelago of the Caribbean.

“They called him Nigger, Slave or Boy! They striked him with whips, enslaved his People and killed his Family. But since he was rescued by the older getting Pirate Captain Diego, the tide turned. Aurelius the black Pirate Captain now hunts his old Enemies.”

In the actionpart of the Game the tactic Shipbattles and `skill-based` Fencing duels are dominating, while the extensive Adventurestory with many Main- and `Sub-Quests` and more then 35 Cutscenes lead you through the Game.

“When Aurelius by accident finds an Artifact on one of his many Raids the Story takes its run. This Artifact, which was destined to be for DeRojas, seems to be an hint where to find the missing Treasure Fleet.”

EDIT: Ok, removed the Screenshot Link (because it's a Java Link now). You can still reach them via the German Ascaron Homepage or watch them at Gamestar (because they are the same).

Ahh thanks a bundle mate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Those screenshots are a bit funny though

wat do u mean?
iznt there is already a tortuga game that come out in 2003 that is worser than port royale 1??i saw it on amazon.com.
Now somebody say it will come out in 2005

Tortuga, also known as Pirate Hunter, was released by Ascaron in 2004, I'm pretty sure. It featured single ship combat, practically no trading, and to me at least got real boring real fast.

The posts above this are about a new game by Ascaron that will also be named Tortuga (why I don't know). It at least looks a lot better so far.
