I'm using the (german) stock version found on the Gold Games 8 Sampler from UbiSoft.

The program crashes (engine.exe), when I try to return to my ships, after NB attacked the smugglers around Douwesen (the Dutch island) and I fought down the smugglers at the port. It doesn't crash, when
- NB has no ship, so no encounter follows.
- I land at a beach of Douwesen and avoid to enter the port, so there is no encounter.
- I release NB at the port, so the smugglers can kill him.

I've tried to install the build13, but I got the runtime error described <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9089" target="_blank">here</a>. As mentioned there, I got a lot of "missing file" while running the batch-file. I'll try to reinstall everything, but I would be glad to solve my problem with the stock game before.

There are so many problems with the stock game, that I don't even know where to begin. Unfortunately, you have German version and Build 13 does not seem to be working properly with that version. I would suggest installing Build 12.1 which is still a huge improvement over the stock game and I believe is working properly with the german version. Good luck!
 
Hrm, ok. Problem is, that my savegames don't work with build 12 (program crashes) while starting a new game seems to be ok. I've send a question to UbiSoft. If I get something useful, I'll make another post. Otherwise I'll try build 13, as after installing build 12 the game seems to be (mostly) like the english Version and all the "missing files" seem to be part of build 12.

What's about build 12 mod? Will it work with the german program?
 
you should always start a new game after installing a mod, so it's not a bug or anything. you should have build 12.1, not 12. build 12 is basically 12.1 with bugs and fewer skins at the tailor shops.
 
Got 12.1, only say "build 12" all the time, cause the file is called "build12_full.zip" and not "build121_full.zip" or anything like that, so got a little bit confused on that.

You should be able to get Build 13 to work on top of your German game version by installing Build 12.1 first.
