Hey Mates - Here's something from the Pumpkin Pirate, as many of us know him from the beta. Tim McCracken, the QA Manager had some stuff to say about the issues at hand - a patch most definitley is going to be released in the future.
So for anyone that is suffering major debilitating issues, post the finds in the forum of course, and we'll try to get it remedied or at least make the problems known.

Hey Will,
I am QA Manager over here at Firaxis. Sounds like a lot of these issues are due to hardware recognition and general compat. As Atari do all our compat on site, I will be working with them and our programmers here to see what we can do to remedy these problems.
We are going to release a patch in the future, but not until we have a concise list of issues and enough fixes / content to warrant a patch.
For each crash I have observed in this forum, it appears some people have remedied the problem with a scan disk run and general maintenance, but your list of known issues are being summarized and sent to some eyes who can resolve them.
Thanks,
