Golf-course workers were surprised to find a 4x4 stuck in a bunker on the fifth green when they arrived one morning - with the passengers allegedly wearing full pirate outfits.
The heavy-duty vehicle was stuck in a sand trap on the course and looked worse for wear, after being turned over on its side.
Police officers claim that a 28-year-old man, who allegedly had too much vodk-argh, will appear before local magistrates charged with drink driving.
Doug Bushby, chairman of the Royal North Devon club, said: 'Three greenkeepers saw it, went down there and saw two bodies in the back and rang police.
'A paramedic came too because they wondered if they were injured but apparently they were just asleep.
'It was a little more than a ball in the bunker. It is a strange place to drive at night. You can get disorientated very quickly.'
