Problems when leaving a port

Ok, whenever I leave a fort (Oxbay this time, at the begginng of the game) I find myself in a fierce battle between the fort and the enemy squadron (French most often). I have a sloop and they kill me in one volley!! I hate this build, I can't get away from them because they break my sails. And they have several ship all targeting me. I cannot change flags cos the british fort then kills me. This is really annoying and I can't play. This feature of the build ruined my gameplay. PLEASE HELP!!

What flag are you flying when leaving port and what is the nation of the ships trying to sink you straight away? I never have trouble leaving port. The French are alrways friendly when I leave port and so is the English fort, so I can leave without any trouble.
 
I have english flag and the french kill me right away. Only Portugal's flag helps me. I have another problem. The quest when I need to escort a ship to oxbay and then meet an agent in greenford. Well, the captain is in the port and when you exit Redmond he should talk to you and you're all set. But, the mod transfers you straigth to the dock so I forgot to talk to him. I went aboard my ship and sailed to conceicao to trade. Then, when I got to the port (in Conceicao) there was a dialogue between me and the captain (dunno his name) but there were no letters. I saved the game and loaded it again and it was all normal. Then I went back to Redmond to talk to him but when I press TALK nothing happens. He just stands there. I tried to go to oxbay but it dosn't work, I don't have his ship with me. I'm stuck and can't progress in the main quest.

P.S. I went to the oxbay tavern and found malcolm. I wanted to try to loot his squal and so I killed him. It worked but the thing is that he always respawns and I can loot his sword and 999 exp from killing him whenever I want with no cost which is stupid and need to be fixed.
 
If you select your own personal flag when starting the game (the red one), which is the default flag, then the French will not fire on you when you leave Oxbay.

I think I know what you're talking about with the escort ship to Oxbay quest. You probably used the Fast Travel button to go to Redmond port, but the captain you have to talk to is still near the city gates. He then comes walking all the way to the player. I don't know what we can do about this, except close the go-to-sea locator until the player talked with the captain.

We should set Malcolm to be immortal then. What you describe is indeed a bit stupid. Although I don't think many people will do that... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

absolute tons of 'em! i think that there are three times more quests than in the stock game. i must say, some of them are VERY well hidden, sometimes even linked with persons you encounter in the main quest. some of them can't be done if you kill someone for instance, while you could still continue the main quest. i keep discovering more of them.

By this you mean after you went off to Conceico, had the dialog and returned to Redmond, right?
If so, you will never complete the quest, the dialog is broken now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />


Reload a saved game from after you speak to Silehard and get this quest, but before you actually go to port.

I thought so as well. But sometimes you can and sometimes you don't. I don't know how this is triggered, really. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
