Problems with adjusting and using Build 13's features

hi,

first of all, absolutely unequalled modding community this, second to none! I'm really impressed.

Build 13 has added many cool features, and I've been working through the readmes and forums to understand them, however:

when changing my boarding party, as it says under buildsettings.h, I change Boardermodel to "soldier". There is no effect! The boarders are the same as initially.

Any changes I try to make with the boarding locations of ships in ships_init.c so that battleships have boarding cabin2 for example, a different captains cabin, show no effect. I have always reinitialised my savegame, but still no change. What am I doing wrong?

to change the captains cabin of the ships I followed the instructions by pirate_kk in an earlier post concerning this...

to change the boardermodels I followed the readme in the buildinfo folder
 
i think the changes only take effect once you've started a new game. also, i think you can only get soldiers of a nation when you have a letter of marque of a nation.

The cabins remained the same however. Upon boarding enemy ships of a specific type the changed cabins appear. Its only when you try and enter your own that it doesnt work (after pressing enter on sea). Entering your own cabin shows three types, for large ships cabin1, the tutorial cabin at the beginning, for medium ships cabin_medium and for small ones cabin_small, never cabin2 and cabin3.
Where is the coding for the entering different parts of your own ship on sea feauture?(like teleport on land just for your ship on sea) Or how can I affect the cabins that are displayed?

PS Ships_init.c and boarding.c under locations show no effect
 
i don't know how to do that. i only know how to mod music. apart from that, i'm just one of the forum spammers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
 
I have found the file that determines the cabin types: Its under SEA_AI and called BOAL_Cabin
Changing cabins is no problem, simply match the references with the cases given in the file.

However only ships of classes 2 and above and ships of class 2 have a reference. All class 1 ships have no reference and are used as "default" which is set to the tutorial cabin. Is there a way in which I can edit each specific class 1 ship without changing the whole class?
 
Makes sense, actually. In Build 14 Alpha there is a different cabin-code that does change it all at once, but Build 13 doesn't.
