Ranged weapons

What is the best ranged weapon in the game? I've never used braces of pistols but I once found a musket - and it had pretty good stats and was worth about 43 000 so I wonder if that is the best I can get? Also, in it's description it says that it is very rarely found in "these dangerous waters".

Muskets and Musketoons are pretty good, though their firing animation is the same as regular guns. Grapeshot pistols, scrapper pistols, and braces of pistols are also pretty good. Personally I like the scrapper pistol best. Yes, I've always used it in stock PotC. The only thing I don't like about muskets (and musketoons) is that you fire them with one hand (actually it's the same like firing pistols) and they are pretty big weapons... But I know that you aren't able to change it so I'll just have to get used to it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Yea, of course, I know that. But it's nothing big, actually. And I haven't noticed that the sound is the same. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

the sound of nearly every weapon is now different. my weapon of choice would be an excellent brace of large pistols. it does a freakin' max.210 damage! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> and you can of course fire twice. so, if the small chance should occur that someone actually survives one bullet, well, that's though then, cos i have another! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

It does 210 Damage??? What if I turn off the mod for weapon quality?? How large is the dmg then?

you mean an avarage one? i think something like 135. i thought it increased 25 points per quality level.
so, something like this:

badly worn: 85
worn: 110
avarage: 135
good: 160
fine: 185
excellent: 210

remember: this is the MAXIMUM damage.
