Ropes...

Have you noticed that big ships don't show their ropes even when they are fit into your screen? Only way to see ropes of big ships is to scroll the camera so close to them that you can't see the whole ship.. and it sucks.

Is there a way to increase the showing distance of the ropes? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> Any idea at all?

I suspect that whole rendering is hardcoded so there's no possibility to modify it now. Possibly that distance of displaying parts of the model is calculated internally: since big ships are fps-consuming, program tries to cut as many polygons as it can, showing only those which really have to be visible.

Are the big ships really that poly-heavy? They don't need to be. Small ships can be more detailed than big ships. Though usually big ships do require more detail.

I did thought that those ropes may be hard coded somewhere. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Or no one has checked that for sure yet? Maybe there is something what sets the view distance for the ropes in some scripts. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
