I am playing the Standard Story - Strange goings on in the Caribbean side quest.

Just been asked by Puerto Rico priest to escort the Montanez from Barbados.

Sail to Barbados - normally the Montanez should be being attacked by 2 pirate ships which you sink.

However - when I get to Barbados - Montanez and 2 Priates ( 666 and 100 Devils ) are there but they are all friendly - tried shooting at pirates they remain friendly and don't shoot back :shrug

The pirates don't attack anyone :shrug

There are also 3 other ships being generated with my personal Flag, that just sit there doing nothing.

These 3 ships have been appearing arround Jamaica for a while, now they have appeared at Barbados. I am only sailing my ship - the 3 other ships I have are all berthed at Jamaica, and are not the same type as the ones being generated.

In the main storyline Rheims has been killed and I have just got into the San Juan church library, if I continued this quest the next place I should go is the Oxbay mine on Barbados - don't know if the side quest and main quest are interfering with each other. :shrug

Don't know what is happening - but putting 3 broadsides into a pirate ship and it still being friendly and not firing back is a breach of the pirate code :rofl

I am not sure how to explain this - so if the following is not very clear it is the best I can do.

In order to see if the quests in the previous post were interfering with each other. I went back to a save before I started the Animist quest and continued with the main quest, from the point mentioned in the previous post.

I have now threatened Silehard in his bedroom, Danielle has left me and gone of on her own and I have gone to Bridgetown to find the idol. Talked to Bridgetown prison Commander - he told me idol has just left on a ship. So I go after ship. ( Normally this quest generated ship is sailing out of Bridgetown and you have to fight and board it )

This time when I go to Sea - the ship I am chasing (called HMS Athena ) is generated Plus 3 other ships (these 3 ships all fly my flag as in previous post ) These 4 ships just sit there - they are all friendly to me .

I manually in 1st person sailing fire lots of broadsides at HMS Athena until she surrenders and I can board her and get the idol to continue storyline. HMS Athena never fires back at me and always remains friendly although Britain is set as Hostile by the quest.( the fort fires on me and the normal island generated British ships are hostile )

So why is the game generating these 3 extra ships - they are not with me and I cannot give them orders. :shrug

Excluding my ship there are 10 ships being generated around Barbados - 6 ordinary island generated ships, HMS Athena , and the 3 extras.

The class 1 ship has the same name as my berthed class 1 ship at Jamaica (but that might just be coincedence, as my other 2 berthed ships are Class 3s)

One of the other ships looks like it is Danielle's which the game might have picked up from when we were sailing together :shrug , but I don't know where th 3rd ship comes form.

Hope the above makes sense - I am becoming really confused by this ( I need a strong drink :drunk )

Ive had the opposite problem with ships that should be friendly (ie Black Pearl) are enemy but never the other way round. Also how is a Spanish and Pirate ships are friendly (that doesnt make sense). I will see if I can get it to happen for me sometime. :facepalm

Onto your other error, try loading your save game and sailing STRAIGHT to Barbados, if the ships are there try relaunching the ships at Jamacia and then try ;)

Ok I think I know what is happening - but why :shrug

The 3 ships the game is generating (class 1, 4 & 6 ) are the last 3 ships I had as companions

The Class 1 is a ship I took out of berthing for a while then put back.

The Class 4 was a ship I captured then sold

The Class 6 was Danielle's ship that the game assigned as a companion as part of the story.

None of them are currently companions. (I have no ships sailing with me)

When I set Sail from Jamaica they are generated there (arround the other side of the island (rocky Shore?)

When I arrive at Barbados they are not there, but generate when the game creates the Class 5 frigate I am supposed to fight.


If when at Jamaica I relaunch the 3 ships I have berthed there (Class 1 and two Class 3's ) and try to set sail - crash to Desktop.
