Technical Question

Diablo

Landlubber
Hi guys,

I'm brand new to Pc gaming and need some assistance in getting pirates! to work on my cpu.

After buying Pirates a couple of weeks ago I've been having problems with the game freezing (not actually crashing) or the intergrated graphics controller has simply stopped working and i;'ve got a weird looking windows screen with only a few colours (the resolution is out too).

i have a DELL dimension 2400. I've got an intel pentium4 2.66 GHz with 512 Mb of RAM. My graphics card is an INTEL 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV (whatever that means). I've been reading on this site that there has been some problems with integrated intel graphics chips when it comes to running the game and when i use Windows XP game analyser i am told that i need to upgrade my graphics card in order for the game ot run. The problem is i don't know what i need or how i go about reconfiguring my computer so it uses the new card rather than the inbuilt one.

if anybody has any suggestions as to what make of card to consider buying (i don't want to spend a fortune on it as i can cope without the game but i've got about £100 to spend) and whether it'll work easily in my computer then that would be great. I've got a spare PCI slot so that shouldn't be a problem

Cheers
