i noticed, that's why i use it for when i don't have a compass. the problem is, if you would change the place where the sun is to the correct place, all the lighting would be in the wrong place.

then all that needsx to be change is not the sun, but the compass and the map turned the other way around >.> if that's possible.

just for the record:

the sun is in the east the ENTIRE day.
the moon is in the west the ENTIRE night.

ah okies I didn't pay attention to the sunrise thingy, will do that in a few game hours >.>
kinda goofy how the developers came up with this. could ya imagine this game but with the oblivion game engine?

Its actually almost blinding to look at that sun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

I like how ya can see it through teh sails and such now =)

edit: spotted sunrise in the west this morning ^-^

there was one odd thing with the sun though. if it would be really foggy, and you would look through your spyglass, and the sun would be on the edge of the lense, you could still see it! the fog would be gone in that place! another odd thing i saw was that the sun shines THROUGH the rocks in the antigua passage.

That's because those who created the game decided to be lazy on that part. The moon seems to be just painted on the sky's image.
In Seadogs the clouds were moving with the wind, and the sun and moon were more realistic - its was correctly located in the sky depending on the hour... On some aspects Seadogs is still way superior to PotC.

I've seen something similar in another island too. It was one of the non-stock PotC ones.

I've seen these issues as well, but I think there's nothing we can do about it. Elas, but that's how it is. :-(

I spent a lot of time trying to get the sun in the right place, but it didn't work right. Even though the sun was in the right part of the sky, all the rest of the lighting was wrong, as if the sun had not been moved.

The sun rises in the west, passes across the northern part of the sky, and sets in the east. And it does appear in different parts of the sky at different times of the day. I didn't check to see where the moon appears.

We've discussed turning the map upside down and making the compass point in the right direction, but apparently it messes with all the coordinates in the game. Yeah, I'd like the sun to be in the right place, but no one seems to know how to do it. The problem appeared when we went to the larger map.

bah not that big of a deal, i just found it amusing =D I got a few ideas in my head not about this don't know how they would work or not, it's too bad I don't know coding or any of this stuff. not sure ya guys want me to share em or not though >.>

Sharing your ideas can never hurt. But do take into account that nothing might be done about this anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

BTW: HOOK! Nice to see you in these waters again! I thought I would be the most inactive PotC forum moderator by now, but it's been ages since I've last seen you on here! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

I've been playing Sims 2 lately. Here's a screen shot of the character I'm currently playing going to work as a Dread Pirate. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Just can't get away from the pirates. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
