Video issues with sea dueling only?

Greetings, mates! I have an NVIDIA GF2 MX card, and I understand that not all graphics are available to me (water, etc). This is okay, but one problem I am having is that when I duel on a ship, the graphics are so choppy that the duel is no fun. Everything occurs two seconds after I hit the key.

In bars, the dueling is better, presumably because there is less going on graphically.

Is there any solution to this other than getting a new video card? I am willing to do that if necessary, but if there is another way, I would like to try it.

I downloaded the Omega drivers for the card I have, but it has not helped at all.

I did try this, and I appreciate the suggestion. However, it did not help to lower the Object Detail to its lowest setting. So, for about $70, I got an NVIDIA 5500 FX card, and the improvements were amazing...except that the `on-board` dueling is still slow. It is not choppy like it was before, but it is slow. I am wondering if the dueling on board is just slower than that in bars, or if the shadows play that much of a part? (I have not yet eliminated shadows, though that is my next step). Has anyone else run into this?
