weird crashes

I have been playing the POTC game for quite a while now. but sometimes it crashes. I know its not because of your mod, since it does it even in the stock game... I think it might be because of the fact that my computer sucks A** bigtime, its a laptop with a crumby graphics card... but i can play the game having real normal (minimal settings) but sometimes it goes crashes and I end up in windows again... does anyone here have an idea about what it could be???

I can luckily still play the game, but i have to save my game all the time, because i never know when it is gonna crash...

any thoughts on what might be the reason are very welcome.

How much onboard ram does your laptop have?

What sorta sound solution does it use?

Is the video ram being generated from onboard ram or is it a seperate controller?

I have 512 mb onboard ram, with the video using up some of it!!!

I run in the lowst resolution, i can get it to run in a higher res, but there is alot of lag then...

I would like to have a new videocard... but Ive been told that I cant since im using an onboard videocard...

sound solution???? I havent got a clue... where can i see that????

I know the feeling. You save some money in the short term!...But in the long run, save a bit more money and don't buy integrated graphic, that is only good for office computers! Memory is another one: Running XP Windows

I suppose youre right... well, i did save quite a bit of money on my PC, since my parents bought it to me... I just started school and my old computer died... so the pitied me, and bought me a new one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
But if i ever manage to get the money to get some more RAM i will... but we have to buy alot of books in my line of studying

I have same problem too...Actually when i open character screen or inventory then press ESC got a blue screen then crashes...Now i'm afraid to press to ESC.

But i don't think it's happening because of my computer configuration.I'll played BotC(Bugs of the Carribean) more than 5 different computers,so it's crash.install all of mods and patches or fixes which available
[ 1) Install stock game from CDs
2) Install Build Mod 12.1 Full "build12_full.zip"
3) Install Pre Build 13 b1 Full "pre_b13_base.zip"
4) Install Current Update "pre_b13_upd_21-8-06.zip"
5) Run English.bat
6) Install Fix Update "BM13_beta6_update_6_9_2006.zip"]
I did all of that,but nothing changed.
Have a 2 different versions of stock game.
All i wanna say.It's lovely game but,it makes me crazy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Laptop-->Asus M6R M725 1.6 GHz. CPU
512 MB. RAM
ATI 9100 IGP etc.
Desktop-->Intel 3.2 GHz. CPU
1GB RAM
128 MB. Nvidia FX5200 Graphic Adapter(also tried with 256MB FX5400)

Please install PotC without any mods. Then see if the problem occurs. If it does, please post here and we'll try to figure out why that's happening.

Please note that PotC doesn't seem to work on many laptops. I don't know why that is, but it seems to be so. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Ahoy Again
Just downloaded Build 13 Beta Full Update and install, also played,nothing changed.
But all these mods are lovely, new screens,time indicators,this is hard work and thanks for all of u.

Now tryin to clean install POTC to desktop (so All mods 12 13 betas etc.
i hope it's works)

(P.S. just send crash report to Microsoft,they said it's about my Graphic Accelerator.[ATI 9100 IGP.Have a latest driver]

Don't know if it will help, but my crashes went down significantly when I installed omega drivers. I still get crashes occationally, but not near as many as before.
