A few factors to keep in mind about divide and plunder (and general crew content)
1. The older you become, the less crew will join you. Watch your health, you will eventually be forced to retire.
2. Medicine and herbs can extend your lifetime, but again, your crew will be more likely to leave you and join a younger captain as you get up there in years.
3. Feed em sea cows! Trade Galleons are a great way to appease the gold lust of your men. When sailing across the ocean, attack every other sea cow (trade galleon) in sight! Don't keep the ships, only the loot.
4. Luxuries and a thrifty captain make for a happy crew. If you go to town and buy every diamond necklace and upgraded sword you come across, your men will grow restless and want their share as well. Plus, keeping some luxuries onboard will pacify them, or so it seems.
5. They like to dance! Don't forget, for those long voyages, nothing beats a good jig to raise the spirits. Some strangers sell the Concertina, the ultimate in pirate pacivity. Nothing tames a wild beast like a good drinking tune! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
