    The timing is with the music. You need to do it on the 1 count of either the 3 or 4 count music. (some songs are 3, some are 4)

    You can get more gold, reduce the size of your crew, get certain special items or particular specialist crewmen. All of these will help some with crew morale.

    Don't worry about turning in a circle. That is done automatically if you get the timing perfect and is called a flourish. Just try to push the correct button.

    If you get enough flourishes and few mistakes you get an ending to the dance where you don't just kiss her hand. You get a dip, a cleavage shot, and a kiss on the mouth. This is called a `super-woo`. The better looking the girl, the more flourishes you need and the less mistakes you can have.

    Use more grapeshot so that you can kill the crew but not destroy too many cannon.

    The boots and slippers will not save your small hearts. When you are saved by the boots or slippers you do not do a flourish, you just don't mess up. Whenever you do not do a flourish, be it just a regular dance move by you or a save by an item, all you hearts disappear.

    In the game I was playing last night I had 375 crew (max for my large frigate with triple hammocks) over 200,000 gold and had been sailing for 40 months. The crew was still happy. It's all about crew to money ratio and length of time. To keep a big crew a long time you need to make a lot of loot.

    any other way to make crew happy?

    So true. It's amazing how many questions I've answered on this board and added at the end, "...by the way, this was in the manual." People are funny. They rant and complain when they don't get a hard copy manual and then when a game includes one, they don't even bother to read it...
