My very first PC game that I bought myself was Pirates of the Caribbean and at the exact same time GTA 3 was also released. So I bought both of them! And I also ended up creating my very first mods for both of them. Although I never released any of my work, it was just for fun. I've been waiting now for 20 years for someone to release a better and improved version of the game. And still either nothing happened or very little progress, both from the community as well as from the paid developers. This is unfortunate. So until another good sea roaming RPG appears, I guess this game is still going to remain one of the best out there. Even the choice of my avatar image on these forums was an image that no one seems to be using in their mods, even though it was always in the game as a hidden Easter Egg. I find that not only odd, but funny. But I suppose, it's also all very sad when even fans gathering together can't make anything that actually worth looking at. The New Horizons mod is just depressing with all the dark colors and has many mismatched colors, not to mention very dull menu and because of that, everything good about it fades away into the background. The ERAS mod that was suppose to bring more realism into the game has still completely wrong crew information and everything about boarding is half broken. Some realism. Community of fans huh??? Hm. I have yet to see evidence of that. I suppose we should take all the best elements from all the mods and bring them together under a new mod. But that may take a while. And by that time a new game may finally be released.
