Fixed Correct Financial Situation for Naval Officers

Further amendment (sorry) to the changes for navy personal share of prize ship code. Just added a #define in internal settings to make it easier for anyone to alter the percentage of the prize money that goes to player wealth rather than a hard coded number to search for if you wanted to tweak it to personal taste.

Even better! Thank you very much. :cheers

@pedrwyth did the work required to give Naval Officers less money for selling prize ships, but to do give them personal wealth.

Now the big question is: Has this change been enough to address the balancing issue?
Has anyone been playing as a Naval Officer lately?

Has anyone been playing as a Naval Officer recently?
I'd quite like to know if this seems to behave itself more reasonably now....

I'm not sure about other professions but I'm now doing my first Naval experience and money wise it is fair.. All I'm doing is hunting governor quest ships and selling them for fair profit, but not enough to be king :D

Although as N. officer you won't need money except for repairing and buying supplies.

Yep, that's the general idea. And if I recall, even that is against reduced pay.
That is why in the past, Naval Officers made money REALLY fast.
Hopefully @pedrwyth's rebalancing served to make it more reasonable again.
So if you're not making crazy money for now, that definitely sounds promising! :onya

Last time I played as a naval officer was a Hornblower, and I did get quite a lot of money from prize ships. Then again, you ought to see my cash total while playing "Tales of a Sea Hawk". LoM plus Merchant Licence = silly money, and I'm probably going to find out whether it's possible to have more money than the system can store. :D Compared to that, Hornblower's savings were definitely sane.

Was that more recently than February? Probably was, wasn't it?

Does go quite AGAINST the characterisation of Hornblower in the books; he was notoriously unlucky with prize money.
But it is probably quite difficult to replicate that fully in the game, since players have far more control over taking prizes than the "real" Hornblower ever did.

:rofl
I've got to admit, that was not entirely unexpected.... Though I do wonder if playing as a Pirate could get you even more money!
If I did the math correctly, then that should indeed be the case.

It must have been. The new Lt. Bush was created in April. ;)

One of these days I might try putting time limits on missions. That ought to discourage the player from wandering off in search of loot. Sailing from Antigua to Barbados via Martinique is fine, it's on the way, but sailing from Antigua to Barbados via Hispaniola really shouldn't be allowed. xD

Yes, but a Pirate can't get a Merchant Licence, which means he won't be holding onto that money for long. The crew are going to want their share! The problem with a naval officer is that, since he doesn't need to switch to payment by dividing plunder, he can accumulate more money. But compared to a privateer with a Merchant Licence, he's not getting stupidly rich.

Maybe not fully perfect yet, but certainly sounds better than the situation at the end of last year.
I'm calling it fixed! :cheers
