A bit of a problem....

Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone else has had a problem similar to what I have and to attempt figure out if there is a solution. Awhile back I accepted the location to the Oxbay Dungeon and Guadalupe Lighthouse treasures. Of course, this was before I learned that if you accept more than one at a time, the first will turn up empty. Well, I decided it would be fine and went to Oxbay to find it's treasure first. When I got there, I went to the dungeon and never found the treasure. I have used the treasure quest guide and I have stood exactly where the treasure should be with no luck. I followed the instructions to the letter, but no avail. So I thought that I must first find the other, so I headed to Guadalupe, found the lighthouse and managed to find the treasure, and as expected, it was empty.

Now here is my true problem. I thought that since I found the other treasure, that surely I could find the one on Oxbay, right? Apparently not. I have searched countless times now, even to the extent of checking every square inch of the dungeon, and entering from every entrance possible. The treasure guide shows where it should be, but when I am standing in that exact space, there is no indication that there is anything of importance there at all. I am really distressed about this, not sure what could possibly be wrong. Although, I am beginning to think it may be because of something I did ealrier on. I remember going down to the dungeon when I first began, and retrieving the Dragon's Tongue that lies on the floor right at the location of the treasure. Perhaps that is what brought about this problem?

Well, I am hoping that this can all be corrected without having to begin the game again. I am running the Build 13 Final version, by the way. Any help here is truly appreciated, I've been having a blast playing through the game with all these new changes and additions. Thanks for your time.

that's odd. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> it worked when i had to look for it. although that might have been an other dungeon. there is of course always the possibility of a missing locator, but if it worked for the guy who made the instructions, it should work for you as well. it really don't know what might be wrong. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> maybe you're in a place that simply looks really much like the place you should be?

There's three options:
1) The treasure simply isn't there, because the guy sold you a fake treasure map. That risk always exists.
2) The treasure disappeared because you took on a second treasure quest. I think we should somehow prevent the player from taking on multiple treasure quests just like the player is prevented from taking on multiple escort missions.
3) The locator for the treasure is REALLY small. Last time I went to search for treasure, the locator was so small that I was virtually unable to get to it. I eventually found it by setting VISIBLE_LOCATORS to 1 at the bottom of PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h.

i don't think the third option is plausible. that problem was only in a build 14 alpha version. it wasn't there yet in build 13. however, there is of course always a chance. you never know with these mods.

i thought that if the treasure map was fake, the chest would simply be empty?

I think if the treasure map is fake, the chest is not there. I thought the third option applied to Build 13, actually. But it's been a long time ago since I checked.

no, small locators appeared in build 14 alpha 6, i think. maybe a different version, but not in build 13. and for as far as i know fake maps caused you to find an empty chest. however, if it does cause you not to find the chest, it would sure explain it. as far as the amount of treasure hunting missions are concerned, i'm totally for the check that you can only do one at a time.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Some good ideas here, of course, but I'm not sure what exactly to do. I still have the "Lost treasure on Oxbay" bit in my quest journal, but of course the treasure isn't there. I am certain I'm in the correct location as well. Is there anyway perhaps to get it out of the quest journal or something another?

Ok, I looked in internalsettings.h and found the bit about the visuals. Turned it on and went into the game. Could see all the locations, camera spots, etc. When I got to the place in the dungeon where the treasure should be, there was no indicator or any signs. Perhaps it is missing entirely?

Was it the one on the Oxbay dungeon? I once found that one. It's at the spot where there's usually a random blade, right?

dunno. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Yes, it's the same spot. I am thinking that the blade may have something to do with the treasure due to the fact that the blade doesn't seem to reappear after being picked up for the first time. When I first started playing through, I went down there and nabbed the blade. Of course, I didn't know there was a treasure quest involved. Perhaps there is a way to reset the occurence of that blade appearing? Could be a work around.

As far as I know, it should work just fine. I recall I once took on that treasure quest and could find the treasure AND the blade both at the same time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

that might just be what makes the difference. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

If that is true I have wasted about 600k from hard ebony smuggling <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

you arse! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> well, there's a reason to add the check. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> don't worry though. there are many more millions to come, so that 600K will look like spare change after a while.
