AOP skins in POTC?

Heretik

Privateer
Storm Modder
Hey guys,

I wanted to know if it was possible to bring AOP skins/models into POTC, and vice versa. I have made only one skin at this point for AOP - but I want to start figuring out how to model a bit so that I can make some much more customized skins.

I don't know if you're talking about characters or ships, but both are possible to add into PotC. It has already been done. Three AoP ships (Light Manowar, Escalated Battleship and War Tartane) are added in PotC Build 13 Beta, as are the Devlin and Beatrice skins. This means it is possible. I don't know if it is possible the other way around. But if you want to add content made by PotC modders into AoP, please ask permission to the modder who made it first.

Nono - don't worry I'm not going to be taking anybodys work but my own from one to the other.

I just have a friend who I talked into buying POTC, and she wanted me to skin her dress for her. I just wanted to know what the possibilities are between the two games in terms of bringing modelse/skins from one to the other.

I have been playing AOP primarily at the moment, but that's because I juuust got it for my birthday, so I'm still hyper about having a new game.

alright - so if it is possible - what do I do to make the conversion from AOP to POTC? I just want to test this before I get too far along. Thanks

I think you can, if you do it from AOP to POTC you have to put the model and skin in POTC just like in AOP, then take the TOOL and set newman.ani, and then open the gm, and save it.

Thanks Thomas!

but... uh... using TOOL to change .ani adn then opening the model? Which tool? and where do I find this .ani tool?

You need to set the animation in the PROGRAM\MODELS\initModels.c entry. You don't need any program for that but Notepad. Just make a copy of an initModels entry and change the data. To test the model, the easiest is to use one of the Build 13 Beta versions and set your model as one of the starting model options in BuildSettings.h. That we, when you start the game you can test straight away.

I hope this helps. If not, ask again and I'll try to be more helpful next time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
