Im sure i'll buy the game anyway just for the amazing graphics, and the fact its a new sailing/pirate sim, but what does it have that sea dogs and POTC havent got aside from great graphics <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> and user friendly interfaces thats really groundbreaking?


I dont mean to sound scornful of it, im just hoping theres something ive missed.

It seems like AoP isn't quite as moddable as PotC, so I personally don't have too much interest in it. AoP might have some nice new features, such as online ship battles and a "build your own city", but other than that, I think PotC with all mods is much more fun. Is the sailing model the same?? Jut three sail settings? Even a bog standard car game will give you 5 gears

Thats a real shame. Something id really love to see is a sim that made you pay real attention to your sailing in the battle.

gosh, i looked at screenshots and the graphic looks astouding but its still far from being look as good as like photos.
guess the next pirates game based on windows vista and directx10 will be awesome.

I'm less interested in better grafix, i wouldn't even mind same grafix as PotC if we get some cool features therefore, which had to be modded for PotC like for example:

- Cabins on capital ships or better being able to walk around anywhere under deck like on canon decks etc.
- Ability to sail from island to island directly on sea, not just on the navigation map
- Berth ships at docks

Well thats the most important changes in gameplay that i would like to see included in the stock game. I don't think that stuff like managing own colonies really makes more fun as in supporting immersion better than the stuff mentioned above.

Maybe a targeting feature on the cannons would be fun too, like aiming down the sights and hitting a mast or something.

Reminds me that mast fall was somewhat in PotC but had to be finished by modders to actually work. I hope AoP has it in stock.

They build it into Swashbucklers, and from what I saw initially at E3 last year the mast fall is also an element in AOP. They built it to be a lot more dynamic that POTC ... Though if POTC didn't BECOME POTC - we would've seen a hell of a lot more in the game.

Will be interesting to see whats half assed in AOP, like if they take slaves out and other naughty things to suit a younger audience, then interesting if they leave it as a switch or half coded like in POTC, considering what happened to rockstar

So if me is not mistaken this upcomin' spectacle does not tickle your "goodies" just yet fellow seafearers?!

Only thing that i noticed in the "screenies" is the fact that there seems to be a huge nations emblem on the sails...

Hopefully this can be turned off or otherwise be removed, i think it is not very realistic to be sailin' around with a ship that actualy looks like a cristmas tree...
